The history of the corida in Seville was built in the 18th century. Arena has a capacity of about 12,500 and is one of the most famous of all Spanish corrida. In the past, bull fights were held in the Plaza de San Francisco, an historic market hall near Seville. The first temporary wooden arena was built in 1730 near the current location of the Plaza de Toros. Arena was a rectangular shape as an advantage for the bulls, which they could withdraw in one corner. It was cataloged as unsafe for fighters in 1933, the structure was replaced with a round arena, all wood.
In 1761 it was decided to raise a arenas where a permanent exhibition. Corrida gorgeous that we see today was designed by Vicente San Martin, who created an elegant structure in an architectural style specific. It took another century for the arena to be completely finished, so what happened in 1881. Today another arena can accommodate about 12,500 spectators.

At the corrida there is a statue of Francisco Romero Lopez, better known under the name of Curro Romero, a very famous bullfighter from Seville who served in the corridor from 1950 until 1990.
