Domplatz - Cathedral Square - is located right in front of Salzburg Cathedral and Residenz Castle is fenced and the Monastery of St. Peter. Just above the main window of St. Peter can see a girl who has drawn a grimace to the Residenz Castle Prince Archbishop. This was done to show people that the great abbot of the monastery of St Peter's can afford to be the law of Prince Archbishop of Salzburg.
Passing the cathedral arches Giovanni Antonio Dari, is reached in Residenzplatz Kapitelplatz north or south of Salzburg Dom. Under the arcades north may see a statue of Cardinal Giacomo Manzu. Madonna statue located in Domplatz, even in the middle market, is the work of Johann Baptist Hagenauer. He made it between 1766 and 1771. Statues that are on the side are angels and demons but allegories of church and truth.
Domplatz is where "Jedermann" is staged during the Salzburg Festival, combining the facade of the cathedral with dramatic scenery. At the end of November and December, here are organizing a Christmas Market which attracts thousands of visitors.
