One of the most impressive buildings in Kiev and of the Ukraine, the Mariyinsky Palace is located on the right bank of the Dnieper River. It currently serves as the residence of the President of the country and it is located near the Palace of the Parliament.
Initially, the Palace was built to serve as a summer residence for the Russian Empress Elizabeth Petrovna and the Romanov family.During the Worls War II the building was badly damaged requiring a reconstruction in 1940. The Palace can be visited by tourists once per year on Independence day.
