The Daintree park consists of two parts separated by the middle of a lived-in an agricultural area, which includes the town of Mossman and Daintree Village. All this area is a habitat for rare species of birds. The Daintree National Park is also the location of the famous "jumping rock" at Thornton Beach. This quiet beach is sacred to the aboriginal tribe Yalandzhi Cook (Kuku Yalanji). It was the one place where the women of the tribe conducted secret, magic rituals everyday.
