Salina beach

Salina is the second largest beach in the archipelago of the Aeolian Islands and includes different  landscapes than the rest of the islands. Thanks  to its several  water springs, the island is quite green. The island is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list due to its amazing volcanoes. The wonderful island consists of six different volcanoes, the two most important ones are Monte Fossa Delli Fecci and Monte dei Porri. Both of these volcanoes are very well preserved and offer an incredible spot. The island is made up of three small towns and some villages comprising  a population of  approximately 4000 inhabitants.

Compared to other islands of the archipelago, Salina remains untouched by tourism, representing  really natural places where the tourists love to spend remarkable moments. Salina boasts two important ports such as Rellina and Santa Marina. There are regular ferries and hydrofoils which come from  Naples, Pallermo, Messina, Reggio Di Callbria and Milazzo. Tourists can choose  to go to  either of these destinations and take a hydrofoil back to Salina. The ferries are only available from Milazzo and Naples. Regular buses are also available and make the connection between the towns and the villages on the island.
Salina has its name  derived from the ancient Didyme, that means twin, making  it not hard to identify solely from its shape: with two reliefs separated by a saddle-like hump. Geographically, Salina is situated along the Lingua point. Along this part of the island, you can  find a series of ideal spots to enjoy a gourmet picnic completed with local wine and stunning views. We can  guarantee that this  will be the most relaxing and romantic picnic you ever had. The sunset in Salina offers breathtaking panoramas, perfect for romantic people.

Best atractions of Salina

Fossa Delle Felci

Fossa Delle Felci is that well known volcano for which Salina is listed in the World Heritage List. The volcano has a height of about 962 meters  and visitors can climb up to the top or just half way to admire the views of the surrounding areas and the fantastic sea. However, climbing up  to the volcano can be very tiring and  it is perfect for those who are fairly fit. Other tourists can just come to the volcano  and spend some lovely moments while admiring  the beauty of the volcano from the foot of the mountain.

Museo dell'Emmigrazione Eoliana

The Museo dell'Emmigrazione Eoliana is definitely the most interesting museum  among all of the islands in the beautiful archipelago. The museum shows the effect and the contribution  of the immigration of the Aeolian Islands. The majestic museum is  small and the collection is also not very large, but, it is still worth a visit to get  into the background and the rich culture of the island.

Santuario Della Madonna Del Terzito

The Santuario  is located in the valley that separates the two  volcanoes of the island. The gorgeous place is an important pilgrimage place. The church is located on the track that is on the top of the mountain.

The Beaches

The beaches in Salina are very clean with crystal clear water, perfect for swimming. The beaches on the island are fairly deserted especially on weekdays. Just in  weekends  few locals flock on  the beach in the summers. There are also a few diving spots close to the island which are ideal to explore the sea life of the region. The beaches are great spots for relaxation and leisure, where people come with pleasure and enjoy unforgettable experiences. Salina is a fantastic destination with overwhelming landscapes.

The warm weather, the summer vacations awaken the dream in each of us and force even, many of us to think about a wonderful holiday at the seaside.
Italy is a country that is famous for its unique beach resorts.
Italian beaches are the best in the world.
We suggest you to rest in Italy considering the following reasons.
Already a couple of decades, the Mediterranean beaches are among a battle for the flags.
Before the swimming season, the “ Fondazione per l'educazione ambientale” (FEE), an international organization for the environmental education, in collaboration with COBAT and COOU, whose responsibilities include neutralization and recycling of lead wastes and refinery residues, distribute symbolic blue flag beaches between the recreational areas that meet stringent cleanliness standards and the requirements of eco-tourism.
The action is called - Bandiere Vlu, which means "blue flags".
That is why, Italy offers ecologically healthy areas, the most “ blue”, the cleanest and most pristine zones.
And this is, in fact, due to the turmoil after the” blue flags”, that may seem like a silly child’s game but it has a big meaning for the coastal ecosystem.
The second reason to choose Italy is that Italian beaches compiles a list of beaches for the kids.
This is a large sandy area with no rocks and no pebbles with crystal clear sea, where there is necessarily a team of rescuers, which will ensure the safety of your child.
Pediatricians from all over Italy and the “La salute prima di tutto” magazine selected 25 beaches suitable for children.
Beaches were chosen based on several criteria, explained by the expert from the University of Milan Bicocca Farnetani , who conducted the investigation jointly with the Italian Association of Preventive and Social Pediatrics.
The third reason to choose Italian beaches is that they are the most exclusive resort areas in the world, with picturesque natural bays.
Beaches have separate cabins for undressing, lounges, beds, umbrellas, tents with tables and chairs where you can order drinks and fruit.
Italian beaches assure you a high quality of leisure, all sorts of water sports, yacht clubs and golf courses, night bars, restaurants and discotheques.
