Town’s History
Lillehammer town was founded in 1827, appearing as a trading post, later, in 1842 being inaugurated as a full market town status. The town now is invaded of many attractive destinations like an ultra modern theatre, concert hall at Maihaugen, Lillehammer Art Museum, that was reopened and remodelated in 1992. It appears in a new building in a very distinctive architectural style, including collection of Norwegian Arts from 1820s till our days. It also includes spectacular art exhibits of the international artists. This imposant and modern museum was named the museum of the Year in 2008. The permanent exhibit of the museum includes contemporary art and renowed pieces, that form both the Norwegian art history. The town is also beautified by the restored Banken Cultural Center, by the wonderful church, in a new and developed spot. Nordseter-the town’s gateway to mountains
Nordseter is a stunning destination in Lillehammer, that has to offer something for everybody. This region originally appeared as a group of mountains farms, later had transformed in a miraculous touristic resort. There are two hill in the region perfect for ski, called the Nevra Ski Lift and Nordseter Ski Tow, with a length of about 500m and wide of about 90m.
Sjusjoen-Skiing Eldorado for Lillehammer
Sjusjoen is known as a group of mountain farms, which developed slowly in an amazing touristic resort. It is situated at over 20 km away from the Olympic town of Lillehammer, and 850 meters above the sea level. It is a very nice mountain territory, surrounded by forests, considered as the best place of Cross point for skiing in all Europe. Every time during the winter there are installed more than 300 km of double track ski trails. Also in winter are organized riding competitions by horse or by dogs team, creating a very enchanting atmosphere. The schools of ski organize weekly guided skiing trips. All the activities and facilities of the town, including the proximity to Lillehammer, all this make the town a skiing Eldorado. This town offer a wide range of activities that keep you busy all your vacation, where you can spend lovely moments.
