  The Georgia Aquarium is situated in the very heart of Atlanta, at the north side of the Centennial Park. It represents  an educational and recreative place that attract all ages. The guest can appreciate the rare biodiversity of the aquarium, that has dedicated 25% from the floor to the public, who can admire and expore the magnificent animals that live in its interior. It was opened in 2005 and has received thousands of people who had traveled to Atlanta to experience the rich aquarium on themselves. This splendid place was founded due to the donation of about 250 million dollars that came from Bernie Marcus, and covers over 20 acres of land.

 

  In 2001 Marcus decided to built a aquarium in Atlanta that will become an advantage for the educational and economic growth of the city. So he started to explore over 56 aquariums with his wife, in order to explore the buildings for the design and architecture. The idea of construction was sustained by big comapanys as Sun Trust, Coca-Cola Company, The home Depot and many others. After 27 months they constructed a 1,500 square meters for a ball room space, including 60,000 animals, two kitchens, gift shops, a 4D theatre. The Georgia Aquarium has opened to the public on November 21st ,2005. The most famous species of the aquarium are the whale sharks from Taiwan, that are kept in 24,000 cubic meters exhibit. The marine animals are included in five big galleries: Tropical Driver, Georgia Explorer, Cold-Water Quest, River Scout and Ocean Voyager, that are specific for different eniviroments. The aquarium is also the home for California sea lions, Japanese spider crabs, Beluga whales and African black-footed penguins.

 

  This imposant and gorgeous aquarium represents a great treasure fot the city of Atlanta, that attract millions of tourist and fascinate for its rare and immense collection of aquatic animals. You will be impressed by the enormous building and the wonderful design, surrounded by clear water and alive animals that are right close to you. It gives a unique experience and feeling, creating a very warm and pleasant ambiance.
