Canada Place is a magnificent landmark in Vancouver, firstly was the space dedicated to the Expo ’86, a World’s Fair gala, but the the officials from Vancouver realized that the city’s harbor is a realy goregeous area so desided to make the Canada Place a spectacular and unique area for attracting the international festivities. Now Canada Place is an important destination in Vancouver being the Vancouver’s World Trade Center and is the first IMAX 3D Theatre.
This spectacular building has a very wonderful form with 5 sails of a boat which come up above the inlet relating the glorious maritime history of the old British Columbia. It is also the main cruise terminal in the region that makes the area a very popular one for the great cruises to Alaska especially. This amazing building is the home for several offices, shops, or special organized events where visitors of different ages can delight their eyes and enjoy the time. The Canada Place appeared in 1986 and took 3 years to complete the construction of this piece of art. The designer of the building was the architect Eberhard Zeidler.
Canada place is like a door that opens to relate about the history of the city. Inside the building visitors go on a walkway admiring and reading different stories about Vancouver’s past, with pictures that offer the great view of the harbour. This is called the Promenade into History by locals. On the north side of the Canada Place the Vancouver port authority has an Interpretive center which offers games or videos for those who are interested in port’s activities. There also exists a area that offer types of music by the Canadian cast of musician that will charm with all the sounds from around the country. The IMAX Theatre offers a variety of 2D and 3D films, or documentary films for different ages and tastes, offering to visitors the possibility to choose what they prefer because the theatre is open all day.
This place is marvelous and includes all kind of activities so the visitors won’t be bored ever. The form of the building will impress anyway, giving a nice memory about the Sydney Opera House. The location of the Canada Place opens a great view over the city, over the mountains, so this it a great experience for each visitor, the great impression left by this place will follow them the entire life.
