  It was founded in XVI century but in some historical documents attests from XII-XIV century. About its foundation you can here a lot of stories, one of them says that Stefan the Great got married with his wife, Maria Voichita, in this monastery.

  The monastery is in a ideal armony with the nature that surrounds it . The strategical  settlement of this place helped the monks in their spiritual duty, creating a peaceful atmosphere far away from civilization. This is probably the most exceptional monastic ensemble made in stone in Moldova and unique in Europe.  

  Situated so high during the time the monastery served as a great defense shield in people’s fight for independence and freedom. This sacred place includes 3 levels, with a lot of rooms and 2 churches. Those rooms are connected through stairs and galleries . Very impressive is the church “Adormirea Maicii Domnului”, which is very large designed in a basilical style. River Tipova when falls down  into the river Nistru creats a lot of small waterfalls, one of them is 10-16 metres height and makes this natural landscape to be special.

  Here you are invited to explore the forests and hills, to admire the calmness of the river Nistru and to enjoy your soul with the waterfall’s whispers. The monastery is a real enigmatic place full of positive energy that makes everyone to escape from daily problems.
