  Considered to be the most beautiful baroque garden designed in Europe, Mirabell Gardens dates from 1689, but the structure has been modified several times over time. The core, called the''big''is the only ground that has retained its original position.

 

  Gardens include a series of statues representing the gods of Ancient Rome, an Orangerie and a pavilion which houses the Baroque Museum Salzburg. Near Mirabell castle is a little square in the center of which is to be found a fountain - Fountain of Pegasus - and if you find the place known is that in this place were filmed a few scenes from the movie''The Sound of Music.''

 

  Hidden by evergreen hedges, is an area in which to stage plays since the Baroque period, now, the summer concerts are held here at the Salzburg Festival. A peculiarity is the area that boasts garden statues of dwarfs who ordered the courts of princes lived in Salzburg.
