Andalusian Parliament is hosted by a very large complex of buildings built in the 16th century. Originally established Andalusian Parliament was built outside the city walls to serve as a hospital. Hospital building was renovated and the destination was changed in 1992 to house the offices of parliament. Andalusia autonomous Parliament is based in this former hospital called Hospital de las Cinco Llagas (Hospital of the five wounds). Hospital was founded in 1500 when Pope Alexander VI and gave his blessing to do Ribeira Catalina Done a hospital in Seville. Hospital was initially established in a temporary location on Calle Santiago, somewhere near the house of Pilate. Catalans son, Don Fadrique Enriquez of Ribera, first Marquis of Tarifa, decided to build a new hospital on the outskirts near the Basilica Macarena.
Construction began in 1546 under Martin's intrumarea Gainza, who previously collaborated on building lifted City of Seville. Vast complex which was completed only in 1613 was built in Renaissance style. The building is structured around several courtyards, nine of whom initially the number eight of them exists today. In the central south wing there is a gate designed by Asensio by Maeda in a Spanish Baroque style. This entrance leads directly to the hospital church, which dominates the central courtyard. The church was built in 1560 by Hernán Ruiz the Younger and today is used for parliamentary meeting.
The hospital was abandoned in the 1960s and the building remained empty for many years until 1992 when he was restored to serve as the headquarters of the Andalusian Parliament, which became an autonomous community of Spain in 1981. In front of the parliament building is a modern garden with a statue of Hercules, originally created for the 1992 Universal Exhibition in Seville.
