The American architect Jack Ainsworth designed in 1922 in Zillah, Washington, a sketch of a teapot shaped house. The sketch came immediately after the Teapot Dome scandal. Following this scandal, the U.S. official, Albert Fall, was jailed for taking bribes from oil companies who wanted the access to the government-owned oil fields.

The circular building has a metal handle and a concrete spout and served as a place of payment in a gas station until 2004. The Zillah authorities decided to move this building from the outskirts in the center of the city.
