Libya is a country situated in North Africa and shares borders with the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Algeria and Tunisia to the west, Chad and Niger to the south, Sudan to the south-east and Egypt to the east.
The number of tourists in Libya continuously increases ever year, as Libya boasts fascinating and spectacular ancient Roman and Greek cities as well as great archaeological sites. It is the land where the desert meets the sea, with its unexplored coast ideal for those looking for serenity and tranquility. Libya is by all means worth discovering.
The main attractions in Libya are: the capital city Tripoli that provides excellent facilities of international standards and the three ancient Roman cities of Sabratha, Leptis Magna and Cyrene. Make sure not to miss the tourist attractions in the desert, the Midza and Ghadames oases, the latter being also called “the Pearl of the Desert”; admire the Zallaf sand dunes, surrounded by mineral lakes, the ideal place to relax and enjoy the Libyan sun. Also, do not miss the five antique Greek cities of Shahat, Sussa, Tolmitha, Tukra and Elmerj in the eastern area. And finally, you can relax on the beaches on the Mediterranean coasts extending on more than 2,000 km.
The best time to visit Libya is between October and November, when temperatures are moderate. From March to May, visitors can also visit the country, but should keep in mind that the temperatures get higher during this period.
However, taking into consideration the recent demonstrations in Libya, it is not recommended to visit the country in the near future, at least until the political situation doesn’t become stable in the country.
